ABBOTT, Edison Lynn, born 02-08-1885, Greene County, Illinois, died 06-04-1947, buried 09-04-1947, Lax Cemetery. Edison Lynn Abbott, a farmer of the Kane vicinity, died Easter Sunday Morning, April 6, at nine-thirty o'clock at the home of his daughters on East Arch Street in Jerseyville. Mr. Abbott had been in ill health since last August and for the past four months had made his home in Jerseyville with his daughters. He was the son of the late Albert A., and Elizabeth Seago Abbott and was born in Greene County, August 2, 1885, his age at the time of death was 61 years 8 months and 4 days. He is survived by five sons, Earl Edison, Christy Lynn and Richard Lee Abbott of Kane, Alvin Andrew Abbott of East Alton and James Lowery Abbott of Jerseyville, and five daughters, Mrs William Sprowel of Phoenix, AZ, Miss Catherine Sarah Abbott of Jerseyville, Mrs Donald Varble of Eldred and Miss Alice Ruth Abbott of Alton. He also leaves four brothers, Howard Abbott of Jerseyville, Albert and Sam Abbott of Kane and Gilbert Abbott of Fieldon; two sisters, Mrs. John Williams and Mrs. Jesse Ashlock of Kane, nine grandchildren and one great grand-daughter. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 9, at two o'clock at the Bethany Baptist Church northwest of Jerseyville. Reverend James Monroe of White Hall officiated at the rites and interment was in Lax Cemetery.
