His survivors include eight daughters, Mrs. Pauline Turner, Mrs. Tillie Luke, Mrs. Ernest (Drusilla) Hetzel, Mrs. Tony (Irene) Scoggins, Mrs. Peggy Beauchamp of Jerseyville; Mrs. James (Emeline) Crotchett and Mrs. Ruby Postlewait of Kane and Mrs. Joe (Wreatha) Webb of Casa Grande, Ariz.; two sons, William H. Abbott of Jerseyville and James E. Abbott of Caulfield, Mo.; 28 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert A. Abbott of Kane. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dora M. Edwards who died in 1941; one daughter and one son.
