Burnet county resident, Janet Elinor [Lewis] Crain, celebrated her Earthly conquering of Parkinson's Disease when she was welcomed into the arms of her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Janet passed away on August 12, 2021, at her short-term residence of care, in Llano, Texas. Janet was born to Virgil and Avis [Jackson] Lewis on September 1, 1942 in Burnet, Texas. After growing up in the country with her family, she married Lawrence Crain on April 18, 1958. She spent the early part of her married life raising her three children, David, Diane and Darrell. Janet's work included working at the Herman Brown Free Library, and as a teacher's aide for Burnet CISD in 1978. She then moved into the elementary library where she worked until retirement. Janet and Lawrence then began raising emus and goats and enjoyed their retirement together at their country home in Naruna, until Lawrence's death in 2009. Her final years were spent in her beautiful new home on the ranch where her life began, near Burnet. Janet loved researching her family's history and was proud of their role as early Burnet county settlers, many arriving in the Smithwick area in the 1860's. She volunteered at the Fort Croghan Museum as long as her health allowed. She loved documenting the genealogy of her and Lawrence's families and collecting pictures of those families and lots of books, over genealogy and many other interests. Janet is survived by her son, David Crain and his wife, Randa of Bay City, Texas. She is also survived by her son, Darrell Crain and his wife, Michelle of Burnet. Her late daughter Diane was married to Chuck Humphrey, of Ozark, Arkansas. She was Grammy to 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
