Syble Whitehurst Whitley, 87, of Franklin, Va passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Whitley; sisters, Nell Champion, Jean Bunch, Catherine Hurdle, and Willy Honeycutt; and brother, William "Billy" Whitehurst.

In her early 20's, Syble worked at Godwin Motors as a secretary and enjoyed her job. She then went to work at Home Interior for over 40 years as an interior designer. She was a great at making floral arrangements and loved decorating homes.

She is survived by her son, Edward Allen, Jr. and his wife Kathryn A. Allen; grandsons, Robert L. Allen and Brandon L. Allen; sister in law, Barbara Jean Barnes; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hunterdale Volunteer Fire Dept, 201 Delaware Rd, Franklin, VA 23851 for the numerous times they were a blessing to Mrs. Whitley. The family would also like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Comfort Keepers of Franklin, Va in the last several months for the care they provided Mrs. Whitley. Also thanks to very close friends, Mary M. Davis, Mable Bunch, and Kathryn Lamb.

Burial will be held privately at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and family at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Suffolk, Virginia on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Condolences may be registered online at RWBakerFH.com.
