Before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he attended Needmore High School. Glen was employed as a machinist at International Paper for 20 years and worked in maintenance at Warren Township Schools for 18 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #276, Moose Lodge #17 and a longtime member of AARP.
Glen is survived by children, Connie Norris, Cherie Smithers (Darren), Daryl Jones (Andrea), Beverly Smithers, Les Smithers (Rosie) and David Smithers (Joyce); 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom Smithers, Opal Smithers, Howard Smithers; sister, Betty Abel; and his Sweetie Pie of many years, Betty A. (née Grider) Jones .
