Betty loved spending time with her family, raising plants and flowers, and watching westerns. She loved spending time playing the guitar and talking on the phone to her kids and grandkids.
Betty leaves behind her daughters: Janice Hargis of Monterey and Jan (Mike) Smith of Cookeville, Donna Brown of Sparta, Debbie Stults of Crawford, Dana (Jeff) McDonald of Livingston, and Delana Stamps of Monterey; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband: J.L. "Jaybird" Abston and brother: Bobby Stephens.
Funeral Services for Betty were conducted Thursday, September 9, 2021 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Jenkins officiating. Burial followed in the Mayland Cemetery.
