FAMILY SEARCH. When Jude Allen was born on 27 June 1851, in Pottawattamie, Iowa, his father, Jude Allen (1811-1900), was 39 and his mother, Mary Ann Nicholas (1820-1860), was 31. He died on 31 July 1852, in Morrill, Nebraska, at the age of 1, and was buried in Morrill, Nebraska.

MORMON PIONEER OVERLAND TRAIL. The Allen family … Jude Allen, Sr (1811-1900), Mary Ann Nicholas Allen (1820-1860), Andrew Allen (1849-1904), Emily Allen (1845-1936); Harriet Allen (1847-1858); Jane Allen (1841-1877); Joseph Allen (1843-1921), Jude Allen, Jr (1851-1852); Martha Allen (1839-1923); and Mary Allen (1838-1911) were part of the Utah Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel migration between 1847-1868.

Also part of this migration was Jude Allen's (1811-1900) mother, Eunice Miner Allen (1782-1867) and his two sister, Nancy Allen (1827-1905) and Sarah Allen (1811-1897). The two families were among the 141 individuals and 45 wagons in the Benjamin Gardner Company when it began its journey on June 2-10, 1852 from the outfitting post at Kanesville (present day Council Bluffs), Iowa. This church wagon train under the direction of Captain Benjamin Gardner arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on September 24, 27, 1852.
