Former Tattnall County resident Delores A. "Sister" Dukes passed away at her residence in Rincon on Jan. 4, 2018, after 80 years of life and an extended battle with Parkinson's.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Eula Aaron of Bloomingdale; son, Shannon Dasher of Bloomingdale; and brother, Johnny Aaron of Bloomingdale.

Survivors include her loving husband, Floyd W. "Charlie" Dukes of Rincon; children, Celeste Callahan (Terry) of Guyton, James W. Dasher (Tina) of Rincon, Michael L. Dukes (Suzanne) of Dublin and Karen Quinlan (Danny) of Fleming; siblings, Adrian Aaron of Dublin, Joan Strozier of Bloomingdale and Judy Kelly of St. Simons; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Heather, Jessica, Megan, Connor, Tyler, Chelsey, Christopher and Andrew; five great-grandchildren, Holden, Kira, Brentley, Ryann and Grayson; and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize these special individuals as extended family - lifelong friends Betty Steese and Margie Blewett; neighbors who became more like children and grandchildren Brad, Lisa, Hayden and Gavin Cowan; and the compassionate and devoted, caregivers who always went above and beyond, Paula, Rachel, Nicole, Jenn and Pastor Tony.

Visitation was Jan. 6, 2018, at Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel.
The funeral service was Jan. 7, 2018, at Rincon United Methodist Church.
Interment was in Rincon Cemetery.
