Ruth Earline Abel, 83, of La Junta entered Heaven's gates on October 20, 2021 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta. She was born on February 26, 1938 to Earl & Lorena Ruth (Gilmore) Paxton in Abilene, Texas.

She had many hobbies including gardening, painting, reading, doing puzzles, and enjoyed attending all grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and that was what made her truly the happiest.

She is survived by her loving husband, A.W. "Bill", son, William "Abel", daughters, Sharon Abel (Ron) of Las Vegas, NV and Dawn (Mike) Harris of Pueblo, CO; brother, Larry Paxton of Chesapeake, VA and sister, Marylin (Ralph) Anderson of El Paso, TX.
She was blessed to have 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and her greatest joy was spending time and playing with them. Nana will truly be missed by all and forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruth Paxton; daughter, Terri Ann; son, Timothy Dean and granddaughter, Ashley Rochelle.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Adam Wutka of the St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend, KS officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
