Opal Irena Acre, 102, died December 15, 2021 at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 27, 1919 in Colorado the daughter of Earnest Ira and Amy Fern (Smith) Alfrey. Irena had lived in Colorado, Mullinville, Kansas since 1926 and Greensburg since 1935. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1938 and attended Emporia State Teacher's College. She was an elementary teacher in Colorado and Greensburg area. Irena loved her Lord Jesus and attended the Faith Tabernacle Church in Greensburg. On December 14, 1946 she married James Harrel Acre in Greensburg. He preceded her in death. Irena is survived by one son Ernie Acre, Port Richey, Florida, two daughters Relena Preble and husband Jake and Tish Smith and husband Dennis all of Greensburg, several Grandchildren, many Great-grandchildren and a few Great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by three brothers Norval, Everett and Virgil Alfrey, and a sister Cecil Lemon. Graveside services and celebration of Irena's life will be held 11:00 am Monday December 20, 2021 in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg with Pastor Keith Dellenbach presiding. Memorials are suggested to the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital and Hospice of the Prairie both in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg KS 67054-0041.
