Daniel Acton, 80, of rural Rippey, died Saturday, December 18, 2021, on the family farm. Daniel Joseph Acton was born October 20, 1941, in Jefferson, Iowa to Robert and Helen (Aspinall) Acton

He graduated from Rippey High School in Rippey, IA in 1959. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1963-1969. On Jan 7, 1967, he married Fereleen (Roberts) Acton at St. Patrick's Church in Perry, IA.

Dan was soft-spoken and kind to so many and devout in his faith, so others saw him as reserved and quiet. However, his family got to see his stubborn Irish side. He loved his wife, Fereleen and their four children. He was so incredibly proud of his two granddaughters and loved them fiercely. He was introverted but loved to be social with his friends and knew everyone around Greene County. He quietly donated to any charity that sent him something in the mail…and there were many!

Dan's pride, joy and love was his farm in rural Rippey. It was his place on earth. He took such pride in it. Because of his faithful stewardship of it, it is beautiful and peaceful. It is our home base, our center because of what he worked so hard to create. Not seeing him puttering around the farm or driving the 4-wheeler will bring sadness and tears. But his legacy will be preserved in the beauty of his farm in Greene County, IA.

He is survived by sons: Chris (Melody) Acton of Des Moines, and Jon (Heather) Acton of Jefferson; daughters: Heather Acton of Des Moines, and Heidi Acton of Columbus, NE; two grandchildren: Hannah and Emma Acton; sister: Janis Johnston, Rolling Meadows, IL; brothers: Timothy Acton (Sandra), West Des Moines, IA; David Acton (Stephanie), Sun Prairie, WI; Patrick Acton (April), Gladbrook, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction from 5:00-7:00 pm. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 30, 2021, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction, IA. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Grand Junction, IA.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of the Midwest. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Midwest in his name. Online condolences may be left at www.sliningerschroeder.com. Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home is assisting the family.
