Cheryl Ann Abbott
March 29, 1966 ~ December 29, 2021 (age 55)

Cheryl Ann Abbott, 55, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.

Born on March 29, 1966, to Albert and Barbara (Bondie) Abbott of Hubbard Lake. She was the youngest in a large family who all loved her dearly. Growing up, Cheryl spent her time putting together puzzles, coloring and creating many beautiful latch hook rugs that she loved to gift to family and friends. Cheryl was also stiff competition playing HORSE with a basketball, as she could score throwing not only forward from a long distance, but also backwards over her head!

Cheryl graduated from Pied Piper School and participated for many of those years in Special Olympics where she gave her all. Cheryl went on, with the help and guidance of adult helpers, to start and operate her own business called "It's a Wrap by Cheryl". Her candy bars were available for purchase in businesses all around Alpena. She was so excited to earn her very own money! If you've ever purchased one of Cheryl's candy bars, we want you to know that your purchase helped bring her pride and joy and you made a difference in the life of a grateful, sweet, special needs young lady; and we thank you!

Cheryl enjoyed spending Saturday evenings during the summer dancing to the music at the Concerts on the Bay with her friends from the Blue Horizon home where she resided. She could really cut a rug! As her needs became greater and Cheryl became wheelchair-bound, she moved to the Brege home in Rogers City, where she made new friends and was well loved by the staff and residents.

Cheryl left her disabled and broken mind and body behind peacefully on December 29, 2021, to dance, renewed in Glory with her mom Barbara, dad Albert, brother Vince and brother-in-law Dave Richardson who all went on before her.

Surviving are brothers Harold (Karen), Russ (Donna) and John (Edie), and sister Suzie Richardson. Also, nephews John Vincent (JV), Lee, Brandon, and Russell Abbott; nieces Melissa Abbott, Casey (Robb) Odell, Ashley (David) Mink, Nikki Abbott, Allison Richardson and Mekayla Abbott; and eight great nieces and nephews.

Please join us to celebrate Cheryl's life and our memories of her on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Bannan Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Williams officiating.
