A Time to be Born – William H. Acree was born February 2, 1933 to the late Walter, Sr., and Sadie Acree.
A Time to Live—William grew up in King William County and attended Churchville School. He was baptized at an early age at Bethany Baptist Church.
A Time to Love—He met and married the love of his life, Mary M. Washington, on November 13, 1954 and was also blessed to have shared 67 years of marriage, raising 6 children.
A Time to Provide—He worked at York Supply in early years until he started his own contracting business and worked until he retired. He built the Fellowship Hall at Bethany and the pavilion.
His Life Achievements—served as deacon for nineteen years, until he was ordained as a Reverend. Served on Trustee Board, President of the NAACP, Area A2 Missionary, sang with the Ever Willing Gospel Singers. William used to love to sew, bake cakes, loved to go to the beach or riding out. Let's nor forget his favorite place was the Golden Corral.
A Time to Die—On Wednesday, February 17, 2022, Rev. William Haskins Acree at the age of 89 entered eternal rest and peace at Sentara Regional in Williamsburg, Virginia.
William was preceded in death by his daughter Corine V. Acree, Parents Walter and Sadie Acree, Sr., Sisters: Mary Wright, Ruth Brown. Brothers: Walter Acree Jr., Melvin Acree, Irvin Acree, Robert Acree.
He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, Mary W. Acree, Daughters Tamara Acree, Linda Mason (Michael), Teresa Acree-Butler (Anthony), Sons, William Acree (Jessie), Van Acree, Sr. (Rochelle), Godson and daughter Lawrence and Deneen Kelly who was very special to him. Sister: Betty Acree, Brother: Alfred Acree. Brother-in-law Lawrence Washington (Carrie), Howard Brown, Sr., Sister-in-law Alease Acree, Special Lifelong Friend Rev. Gary Garnett, Quentin Frazier (Maxine), Pastor Evans White.
Grandchildren: Latonia Acree, Kiwan Jones, Shia Mendoza (Josh), Tara Bailey (Anthony), Van Acree, Jr., (Radedria), Danielle Ray (Roderick), Nicholas Acree (Allison), Will Acree. Great-Grandchildren: Landyn, Jeramiah, Courtney, Eden, Ryan, Vanessa, Vivianna, Aaron, Ezira. Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Bethany Baptist Church, 1899 Churchville Rd, West Point, VA. A viewing will take place one hour prior.
