Ingeborg Adams-Nelson, 83, of Ogden, UT, passed away in Palm Desert, California on March 27th 2014 of heart failure. She was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Eberbach, Germany, the daughter of Gertrud Zimmermann and Kuno Brunn. She was later adopted by Erwin Hebel. She married Kenneth R. Adams on July 2, 1956 in Orem, Utah. He passed away February 25, 1988. Inge married Mark J. Nelson December 15, 1989 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Inge was raised in Germany and immigrated to the US in 1954 where she got her first job as a copy writer and Social Editor for the Provo Daily Herald.

Inge received her bachelor's degree in German and French from Utah State University, her master's degree in language methodology from Brigham Young University and her doctorate in language and literature from the University of Utah. She was a well-respected educator, scholar and faculty member of the Department of Foreign Languages at Weber State University until retirement in 1998. Because of Inge's love for teaching she taught every German course her department offered, from beginning to advance German, medieval and modern literature, German culture and civilization. She served in numerous leadership positions on important administrative, faculty and professional committees, including the Faculty Senate, the Consortium for Utah Women in Higher Education, and the State Scholarship Committee. She was selected as the Presidential Distinguished Professor of 1984-85 and on May 4, 2000 she was the recipient of an Honorary Doctoral Degree from Weber State University.

With her passion in cultural enrichment, she worked from 1986 to 2001 to promote opportunities in Northern Utah by directing her efforts to the success of the Ogden City-Hof Winter Carnival, a German-American cultural exchange event sponsored by Ogden City Council. She also loved being the director of the Study-Abroad Program in Kiel, Germany in 1986. She taught the upper division programs in the Study-Abroad Program in Kiel during the summers of 1985-1990.

In 1998, Inge received the Women of the Year Achievement Award for the State of Utah from Alpha Theta, Delta Kappa Gamma International.

Inge is survived by her husband Mark Nelson, one son and two daughters: K. Russell Adams, Melbourne, FL.; Heidi (Craig) Hansen, West Point, UT; Stephanie (John) Bjorkman, Hailey, ID.; twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren all of whom she loved spending time with.

Also surviving are two sisters and one brother: Traudl Brucker, Stuttgart, Germany; Heidi (Wolfgang) Stadelmann, Flint, TX; Jurgen Hebel, Stuttgart, Germany.
