Thomas H. Abbott, age 72, passed away April 6, 2022 at Atrium Health Cleveland. Born in Savannah, Georgia on July 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Sydney and Wilhelmina Abbott. In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Abbott and sister Diane Caraway. Tommy served in the 82 airborne during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Fort Bragg, NC. He retired from Floura Daniel as a Site Construction Manager after 40 years. Thomas was a generous man, he would take the shirt off his back for anyone. He will be remembered for his leadership, his Baptist faith, and his love for fishing, baseball and music.

Tommy is survived by his sisters, Irene Brant of Georgia, Louise Tillman (Edward) of Georgia, Wilma Akana (Larry) of Hawaii and many loving nieces and nephews. Tommy is also survived by his children, Rhonda Wease (Geoff) and Joey Abbott of Shelby, three grandchildren, Wade Waddell, Mattie Abbott, Tilley Abbott and two great-grandchildren, Maliyah and Isaiah Waddell.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tommy's friends, who were like family; Mike Simmons, Steve Tesseneer, Charlie "Ham Bone" Hamilton and Rick Greene.

A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory.
