Angela "Angie" Abendroth died on April 25, 2022 after a battle with severe depression. She will be forever missed by so many.
Angie was born in Kokomo, IN on November 1, 1966, (a proud Scorpio) to Teresa (Thompson) Veach and James Edward "Jim" Abendroth of Tipton, Indiana. Sadly, she never knew her father as he died shortly after her birth. Angie graduated Western High School in 1985 and Indiana University in 1989. She left the midwest right after college with her best friend Jody Heltzel (WHS Class of '89) for Los Angeles to pursue acting and adventure.
Eventually, her passion for healing and bodywork led her to obtain a degree in massage therapy from East West College in Portland, OR.
Always a free spirit, Angie traveled the world and lived many places. She spent time in New York, California, England, Australia, Thailand, and Hawaii. She followed the Grateful Dead, sang with a Neil Young cover band, sold garlands at the Renaissance Faire, and danced naked in the desert. She also worked at The Omega Institute where she met her husband Patrick Brady. They married at Burning Man Festival and settled in San Diego before parting ways as friends. Angie moved to Asheville to be near family. She waited tables, had loyal massage clients and drew closer to her beloved nephews and cherished local friends.
She never had children but loved her younger cousins, nephews and nieces like they were her own. Her laugh was electric and her heart was huge, but the conflicts of the world weighed heavily on Angie. We pray she is now at peace.
She is survived by her mother Teresa Veach, siblings Brandon Jones (Ingrid) and Amy Jones (Sean O'Connell) of Asheville, NC, Brett Jones (Philippa Campbell) of Atlanta, GA and her nephews Kelly, Hudson and Brady and nieces Olivette and Orienne. She also leaves behind Veach step-siblings including her soul sister Beth (Veach) Sanders.
Angie loved her Indiana family dearly including her aunts, Liz Cooper and MaryNell Trentanove of Indianapolis, Anne Zience and Joni Thurston of Carmel, Susan Thompson and Renie Canady of Kokomo and her uncles Mark Thompson of Bloomington and Bill Thompson of Kokomo. She also leaves aunt Patty Sochon in Charlotte and uncles Mike McFall in Georgia and Terry Jones in New Jersey. Her uncle Matthew Thompson of San Diego was a profound presence in her life.
Also surviving her loss is stepfather Steve Jones (Karen), several Jones family cousins, lots of Thompson family cousins and Daily family relatives as well as dear childhood friends from Kokomo with whom she still spoke and cared about. She also leaves behind her fella, Chris Poff.

Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held at The Smoky Park Supper Club Boat House, 350 Riverside Dr. on Sunday, May 15, from Noon to 4p.m.
