Mrs. Abel died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Brandon Woods Retirement Center.
She was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Coffey County, the daughter of William Franklin and Cora Stella (Williams) Bazil. She was a 1936 graduate of Lebo High School.
Mrs. Abel worked as a typesetter for 17 years for Stauffer Publications, Topeka. She retired in 1981. She had also worked for Kansas Color Press, Lawrence.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and International Typographical Union and had been an active volunteer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for several years.
She married Francis "Barney" Cleo Abel on June 28, 1941, in Ottawa. He died Jan. 31, 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol L. Shipman, Lawrence; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A grandson died Jan. 1, 1967.
