Zena 0. Appel, daughter of Andrew and Bertha Anderson Aberg was born March 4, 1903, on the family farm east of Scandia, and died March 8, 1883, at her home in Scandia at the age of 80 years and 4 days.
She received her education in a country school. Several years after graduation she moved to Kansas City where she was employed.
She married Harry E. Appel in Kansas City. They lived in Kansas City until retirement, then moving to Scandia. He died November 12, 1974.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; one sister, two brothers.
She is survived by two cousins, Mrs. Mabel Johnson and Thorval Anderson.
Funeral services were held at the Amana Lutheran Church of Scandia March 11 with Pastor Stephen D. Leida officiating. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery, Scandia.
