Charles Ray Abston, Sr., 60, of Oliver Springs, died Friday morning at his home. Mr. Abston was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Abston; a sister, Ida Moore, and a brother, Johnny Abston.


He attended Elverton Baptist Church on Harriman Rt 2.


Mr. Abston had lived in Oliver Springs for the past 17 years. He moved to Oliver Springs from Harriman, where he had resided for 43 years.


An Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.


Survivors include his wife, Helen Lane Abston of Oliver Springs; children and their spouses, Mr and Mrs Billy (Sheila) Hicks of Harriman; Mrs and Mrs Mickey (Mary) Tuck of Oliver Springs; Mr and Mrs Anthony (Jackie) Shelly of Oliver Springs; Mr and Mrs Danny (Carol) Shultz of Harriman; son, Charles (Dusty) Abston, Jr., of Oliver Springs; two brothers, Chester Abston of Kingston and Jack Abston of Harriman; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


Services were held Saturday night at Sharp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 pm Sunday at Elverton Cemetery.
