Prior to retiring, Juanita and David raised three children in their Dewitt, Michigan home.
In Michigan, Juanita was known for her green thumb and endless hours spent outside planting and tending to her flowers. (She quickly turned that to a passion for indoor plants after moving to Florida and left the outdoor plants – and the snakes – for David to take care of.)
Juanita's children always knew her as the loving housewife that would be there when they returned home from school. But prior to having a family, and after graduating high school from Greenville Michigan, Juanita worked for Lansing Lithographic and Michigan Bell (as a switchboard operator). Always proud of her polished fingernails, her hand was once even used in an advertisement for Michigan bell.
