A Hugoton resident since 1958, moving from Oklahoma, Mrs. Akers had worked as a cosmetologist for 35 years. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star, Hugoton. On Sept. 26, 1959, she married John A. Akers Sr., in Hugoton. He survives. Other survivors include a son, John A. Akers Jr. of Guymon, Okla.; her stepmother, Bernice Lowe of Sapulpa, Okla.; two stepbrothers, Dale Mussmore of Henryetta, Okla., and Larry Mussmore, location unknown; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Linda and Doris.
Funeral was at First Christian Church, Hugoton, with Dr. C. Robert Wetzel officiating. Burial was in Hugoton Cemetery.
