Samuel Cary Booker, 71, retired merchant and building contractor, died in a Richmond hospital Friday, November 2, following a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Adell Booker, of Gloucester; one daughter, Mrs. R. L. Turnage, of Winston-Salem, N. C.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Vickie Sadler, of Mathews, and Mrs. Fannie Sadler, of Hagerstown, Md.; three brothers, Beverly Booker, of Gum Fork; Willard Booker, of Sassafras; and Eugene P. Booker, of Woods Cross Roads.

Funeral services were held at Bellamy Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Clarence England, assisted by the Rev. Victor B. Anthony, III, with burial in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Landon Booker, Clinton Martin Booker, Gene Smith, Wade Roy, Edward Sadler, and Hayes Sadler.

Honorary pallbearers were the Wesley Class of Bellamy Church, Doswell Dutton, Phillip Lawson, V. C. Sutton, B. M. Bunting, Bryant Edwards, Curtis Edwards and Fred Clements.
