David R. Abbott, 62, husband of Manerva Noble Abbott, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. He was born in South Bend, IN on July 5, 1959 to the late Malcolm and Billie Sue Gearheart Abbott. He worked for the State of Kentucky in the Mechanical Maintenance Department and was a member of Choateville Christian Church. David was an excellent athlete, wonderful husband, brother, and uncle. He was a giving person, always had a smile, and never met a stranger. He was an extremely hard worker and would give you the shirt off his back. God was a part of David's vocabulary; he was a Godly man and had a free heart, always saw the good in everyone. In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by his daughter, Shannon Lynn (Brian) Martin, Frankfort; his special nephew, Jesse "Roo", David was his "Papaw Dav"; his nieces, Martha Abbott (Ricky) Sowders, Jennifer Abbott (William) Shaw, and Jessica Amber (Chris) Bentley; his nephews, Johnathan Abbott and Andrew (Mattie) Abbott; his great nieces, Kelsey Sowders, Amara Horn, Karis Shaw, and Malta Abbott; his great nieces, Isaiah Sowders, Korbin Shaw, and Benjamin Sowders; his brothers, Richard Abbott, IN and Billy (Penny) Abbott, McKee; and his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Abbott. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Rev. Mike Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Brian Martin, Billy Abbott, Richard Abbott, Johnathan Abbott, Andrew Abbott, and Ricky Sowders. Honorary casketbearers will be Isaiah Sowders, Benjamin Sowders, Tom Griffin, David Noble, Jerry Pike, and Brett Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
