Funeral services for John Abler, 66, were held on Saturday morning September 8, at the Hall Funeral Home. The Rev. Jessie Booth, of the Hockaday Free Methodist church, officiated and burial was made in the McClure cemetery.
Mr. Abler was born in Wayne County on December 17, 1884, and has been a resident of Gladwin for the past 24 years. He was found dead at his home in Butman township on Wednesday, September 5.
Surviving are one son, Alvin of Jackson; two brotehrs, Will of Lincoln Park and Alex of Detroit; five sisters, Mrs. Mamie Moore, Mrs. Bertha Kraft, Mrs. Ruth Moe, all of Detroit, Mrs. Stella McLaughlin and Mrs. Margaret Petzold both of California.
Pallbearers at the service were Blaine Yeager, Wilmar Young, Owen Grandy, George Cripps, Arnold Faithbreckner and John Simpson. Gladwin County Record dated 9-12/1951.
