Joseph Daniel Abercrombie, Sr. 57, of Lumberton, MS entered his eternal rest on May 30th, 2022. Joseph was born on November 6, 1964 in Hattiesburg, the son and third of five children to Rayborn and Shirley (Granberry) Abercrombie. He grew up in Lumberton where the country life was the norm. Hunting, fishing, gardening and more was his way of life. Known by most as Joe, he lived in Picayune for a while, and returned to Lumberton in the mid 70s, and would remain there for his lifetime. He attended Lumberton schools until he had learned enough there and obtained his GED. Joe was good with his hands, the type that could fix just about anything that had a motor. He also enjoyed driving and spent many years driving 18 wheelers and doing mechanic work. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Joe was a loving family man that was so proud of his children, and did his best to spoil his grandkids. He will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Joe was preceded by his parents, Ray and Shirley Abercrombie. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife, Janice; his children: Wade Abercrombie, Jonathon (Lori) Abercrombie, Nolan (Sharon) Abercrombie, Joe Jr. (Brittany) Abercrombie, Sam (Brittney) Abercrombie, and his step-daughter, Ashley (Deron) Berghman; his three sisters, Phyllis (Wayne) Spiers and Amy Barrett (Jason Schandel), both of Carriere, and Ramona (Ron) Smith of Lumberton, and his brother Timmy (Tanja) Abercrombie, also of Lumberton. He leaves a legacy of seventeen grandchildren: Matthew, Kaytlyn, Lindsey, Lily, Madison, Presley, Landry, Megan, Felicity, Joseph, Sam, Michael, Remington, Maci, Angel, Cheyenne, and Becca, together with with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services will be held at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton on Friday, June 3, 2022. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, followed by a chapel service at 1:00 PM, with Bro. Tommy Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Oral Baptist Church Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Abercrombie family in their time of need, and asks that you remember Janice and the entire family in your prayers during this difficult time.
