Ford (Chris) Abbott, Jr. 75, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 in Denver, North Carolina. He was born on July 26, 1946 in Fowler, Indiana, the son of Ford Simpson Abbott and Clara Elizabeth (Jones) Abbott.

He grew up on a farm near Fowler with his parents and siblings. He was the youngest of eight children in a large, loving family. When his family moved to Fowler, he attended Fowler High School where he participated in basketball, baseball and track, graduating in 1964. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. He received an honorable discharge after serving four years.

Chris was a beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend. He was known for his business expertise, prolific sports knowledge and lifelong love and loyalty to the Purdue Boilermakers. He enjoyed golf and especially liked to play with his oldest brother Vern as well as with friends. He was an avid sports fan his entire life. In addition to watching Purdue basketball and football, he was also a fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs. His love of fireworks was well known, and his favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. The entire Abbott family was entertained with a large fireworks display presented by him when he was in town.

Chris had a tenacious work ethic and was a highly skilled salesperson. He began his long career in the textile industry with Arrow Shirt Company, eventually becoming Regional Sales Leader for the West Coast. He spent many years with RPM Clothing as Vice President of Sales in California. When designer Alexander Julian introduced his Colors line, Chris became Senior Vice President of Sales in New York City, expanding their national product lines beyond their core shirt business.

Chris married the love of his life, Janet (Brown) Abbott on February 19, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They spent many years living and working on the East and West Coasts prior to moving to Atlanta, Georgia. He began his own business, Citrus Solution in Atlanta, expanding to the Charlotte, North Carolina area. After the expansion, they moved to Huntersville, North Carolina where he continued managing his business. Their last move was to Denver, North Carolina where he later retired. Following his retirement he focused on financial planning.

Chris is survived by his loving wife Janet, and their beloved dog, Indy. Also surviving are two sisters, one brother, three sisters-in-law and two nephews: Margaret (Bill) Curtis, Indianapolis, IN; Marilyn (Bussie) Holscher, Fowler, IN; Wayne (Nicole) Abbott, Scottsdale, AZ; Patti (Randy) Childress, Richmond,VA; Jackie (Bob) Wisenburger, Raleigh, NC; Pam Brown, Washington, D.C.; Shane Brown and Nate Brown, Raleigh, NC; Two daughters and two grandsons also survive. He is also survived by a niece and nephew who were very special to him. A lifelong friend, Dan Kulh who served with him in the Air Force and worked with him at Arrow Shirt Company, also survives. He is predeceased by four siblings: Vernon Abbott, Helen Nichols, Mattie Marion and Ronald Abbott. A special pet, Charlie, who was a loving companion to him also predeceased him.
