Edward was born in Hurley New Mexico on December 31, 1931 to Juan and Isabel Abalos. He was a graduate of Hurley High. Edwards served four years for his country with the United States Army then attended and graduated from Western New Mexico University with a Master's degree. He then was a teacher in Santa Rita then a counselor in Española New Mexico. Edward and his family moved back to Silver City and there he became and served as a Silver City police Officer for 14 years, he then went to work for Phelps Dodge mines where he retired after 13 years. Edward continued in the workforce and was a bus driver for El Grito schools and Silver City Consolidated Schools. At the age of 83 he decided to quit the workforce and relax at home with his wife. Edward was a loving husband and father and cared for his family very much. He was a strong believer in his faith with God and he had a great love for our Holy Mother and our Lord Jesus Christ. Edward was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Edward is survived by his loving wife Cecilia Abalos. his sons Richard Abalos (Phoenix, AZ) Eddie Abalos (Silver City)) Robert and wife Michelle Abalos (Hurley); daughters Bernadette Abalos (Silver City) Janet A. Villegas and Fiance Robert J. Corral (Silver City) and grandchildren are Maria Goette, Alyssa Abalos, Valerie Abalos, Richard Villegas, Jacob Abalos, Robert Jr. Abalos and Dominic Abalos and several great grandchildren.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Isabell Abalos and in-laws Isabel and Antonio Sierra; brothers Mike, Alfredo, Tacho, David and Johnny Abalos, sister Socorro Carney and sister-in-law Maggie Snoeberger, one son-in-law Ronnie Amador and several nieces and nephews.
