Burial with graveside rites by the Union Lodge 331 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Absher was born in Wilkes County, August 14, 1903, to Freeland Alexander and Alice Eugenia Jennings Absher. He was a deacon at Center Baptist Church. Mr. Absher was a clerk for Stone Mtn. Baptist Assn. for 14 years. He was the past grand patriarch of North Carolina Independent Order of Odd Fellows; secretary emeritus of Union Lodge 331 and a member of all branches of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 70 years. Mr. Absher was a teacher in the public school system for 12 years. He retired from the North Wilkesboro Post Office where he was a postal clerk for many years.
Mr. Absher was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Teague Absher
