Herbert Abbott

Herbert F. Abbott, 1723 N. 17th St., Grand Junction died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver following a short illness. He was 71.
Mr. Abbott was a retired water service lead man for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. He had been a Grand Junction resident for 52 years.
He was born April 8, 1913, in Cardonbottom, Ark. He spent his childhood there, and attended school in Cardonbottom. He moved to Grand Junction in 1932.
He married Josephine Mattie on Oct. 5, 1935, in Grand Junction. Mrs. Abbott, a homemaker, survives.
Mr. Abbott enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Catholic church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Bessie Faucett of Fontana, Calif.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Callahan Edfast Mortuary Chapel, 1250 E. Sherwood Drive. The Rev. A. J. Bertrand will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
