Poet and publisher. He published his first book "Canticles on the Skin" in 1970. He also edited "New Poetry" magazine during the 1970s and the 1980s. Likewise, in 1986, Adamson, alongside photographer Juno Gemes, and writer Michael Wilding, established "Paper Bark Press", which published Australian poetry. After Wilding's departure from the company in 1990, Adamson and Gemes continued to run the company until 2002. Adamson won the Patrick White Award and the Blake Poetry Prize in 2011, and was even appointed the inaugural CAL chair of poetry at the University of Technology, Sydney in 2012.
