Theodore "Sam" Ackerman, age 78, a resident of Council Bluffs, passed away May 22, 2005, at Bethany Lutheran home of natural causes.

Born in Sutton, Neb. to Theodore H. and Christina (Klein) Ackerman on September 21, 1926. He was a graduate from Hastings, Neb. High School Class of 1945. Theodore was a painter for ASARCO Smelting Plant for 37 plus years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Eagles Club, and 25 year Club at ASARCO. He was active in Boy Scouts with Troop 3 and 23 and an avid hunter, fisherman and woodworker. He was married on November 23, 1947 to Flora B. (Kruse) Ackerman of Council Bluffs.

Preceded in death by parents; sister, Margaret Rasmussen; and brother, Darwin Ackerman.

Survived by his wife of 57 years, Flora B. (Kruse) Ackerman of Council Bluffs; 3 daughters, Connie M. Steinhorst, and husband, David, of West Melbourne, Fla., Sharon R. Owen, and husband, Terry, of Council Bluffs, and Judy A. Freeman, and husband, Gary of Wichita, Kan.; 1 son, R. Carl Ackerman, and wife, Susan, of Council Bluffs, 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; foster son,

George Markey, and wife, Vicky, of North Platte, Neb.; brothers, Melvin Ackerman, and wife, Maxine of Fairmont, Neb., Raymond Ackerman, and wife, Sus, of Norwalk, Cal., Wilbert Ackerman, and wife, Nellie, of Hastings, Neb., Reinhart Ackerman, and wife, Elaine, of Juniata, Neb.; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8pm at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Service will be held Wednesday, 1pm at the Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathon Kosec, Pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, officiating. Entombment in Ridgewood Mausoleum with a luncheon following at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be offered to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Bethany Lutheran
