"Services for Thelma Mae Foster, 82, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, Ottawa. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona.
Mrs. Foster died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Moscow, Kan., the daughter of Jess E. Hoskinson and Lucy Gray. She had lived in Franklin County since 1938. She graduated from Ulysses High School in 1935. Mrs. Foster worked as a nurse's aide in an Ottawa nursing home for five years, and later worked as a care giver in the homes of families in Franklin and Douglas counties. She also worked as a seamstress for 11 years at the H.D. Lee Company in Ottawa.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1952. She had attended the Bible Baptist Church and the Centropolis Baptist Church in Ottawa. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5901 Auxiliary, Ottawa.
She married Harvey L. Nicholson Oct. 2, 1938. They later divorced. She married Howard Eugene Foster July 29, 1961, in Pleasantville, Mo. He died Sept. 27, 1979. A son, Todd Foster, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include five sons, Dallas Nicholson, Vasser, Gary Nicholson, Ottawa, Harvey Nicholson, Ottawa, Squire Foster, Klamath Falls, Ore., and James Foster, Pomona; five daughters, Eletheir Presnel, Glen Lyon, Pa., Lanora Hundt, Ozawkie, Dorothy Anrig, Chico, Calif., Opal Shepherd, Pomona, and Gail Sawyer, Eureka; two sisters, Juanita Adair, Ulysses, and Jean McCloud, Ottawa; a brother, Mark Hoskinson, Ottawa; 45 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren."
