Born on May 6, 1932, Calvin was very blessed to spend his last day on this earth reminiscing with his loving family before making a peaceful transition into heaven. Calvin is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lois Vicars Acree; three children, Gwendolyn Sue Cook (David), Calvin (Bubba) Acree, Jr. (Ruth), and Mark Stephen Acree (Tammy); ten grandchildren, Brandy Colgin (Brian), Mathew Acree, Megan Thompson (James), Christopher Cook (Chelsea), Julie Trailer (Tom), Will Field (Lauren) Drew Grisby, Ashley and Kristen Phillps, and Chelsea Acree; eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler and Daniel Colgin, Aiden and Rebecca Thompson, Aria Acree, Sofie Dale, Liam Field, Makena, and Grayson Huband, Amiya, and Bentley Whitlow, a nephew, Jerry Acree and a niece, Betty Robinson. Calvin was a Naval combat veteran, proudly serving our country during the Korean conflict. He retired from Local #10 after working for over 40 years as a pipefitter and plumber. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for many years as an usher, and chairman of the Building and Grounds committee. Calvin enjoyed working on cars and playing music. He restored numerous antique cars over the years and was a member of the "Jubilee" Band, playing the guitar and banjo. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 am, Monday, February 27, 2023, at Black Creek Baptist Church, 6289 McClellan Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, with a celebration of life service to follow at 11 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with a reception luncheon afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Black Creek Baptist Church.
