LOGANSPORT - Joel Thomas Abberger, 53, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in his residence. He was born on October 15, 1954, in South Bend, to Thomas and Joanne (Harrison) Abberger. He was an optical optician at C&B Optical One for 23 years and was also a hay farmer. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Joe was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. Joel attended Clay High School in South Bend and Tennessee Temple College. On June 2, 1978, in Memphis, TN, he married Ginger C. Fisher, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Amy (Dean) Running of Mayville, MI; sons, Michael (Heather) Abberger of Indianapolis and Matthew Abberger of Logansport; his parents, Thomas and Joanne Abberger of Plymouth; in-laws, Wink and Mary Fisher of Memphis; brothers, Zane (Eileen) Abberger of Lakeview, MI, and Thomas (Lisa) Abberger of Plymouth; a sister, Sue (Mark) Redmond of Fremont, IN; and a grandchild, Aden Running of Mayville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Berlin. Burial will be at Keeps Creek Cemetery, Logansport. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, March 4, in Gundrum Funeral Home, and one hour before services in the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Academy, 2110 North Third Street, Logansport, IN 46947.
