Military Funeral For Marvin Carpenter
Killed In Car Accident
Sunday
Full military honors were paid Marvin L. Carpenter, Wednesday, at funeral services held for the victim of Sunday's fatal car crash near Huxley, Iowa. Chaplain Robert L. Burns officiated at the services held under the auspices of the legion at 2 o'clock at the Miller Funeral home. Burial was in the Cox cemetery.
Carpenter was killed early Sunday morning when the car in which he was riding crashed at the outskirts of Huxley. Two other in the car, Gerald McCann, owner of the machine, and Harold Hunt, received only relatively minor injuries.
Marvin L. Carpenter was born in Osceola on August 2, 1915, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Carpenter, and died June 23, 1946. He attended Osceola schools. When the call for men came he was inducted in the army and served three years in the army of his country, with considerable duty overseas.
He was married to Ramona Rose Woods of Osceola. Besides his wife he is survived by his father, John L. Carpenter of Osceola; three brothers, Fred of Osceola and Floyd of Urbana, Mo; one sister, Mrs. Angel Engel of Des Moines, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. His mother preceded him in death June 10, 1944.
