FORT VALLEY, July 2 - The sudden death of J. E. Adkins Monday night at his home here on Macon street was a distinct shock to the many friends of the community. Mr. Adkins was the popular mail carrier on the route north of Fort Valley and yesterday was upon duty as usual. Though his health had been failing for several months no one thought his condition serious and his death is attributed to heart failure. The funeral services took place at the residence Tuesday afternoon and the interment was in Oak Lawn cemetery. He is survived by his wife, who was a Miss Barnes before her marriage, and also several children.
