Services for Wanita P. Abeita, 101, of Prewitt, were held at 10 a.m. on March 6, 2008, at the Prewitt Assembly of God Church. Pastor Ruth Droll officiated. Burial followed at the Thoreau Community Cemetery.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1906, in Prewitt and passed away on March 1, 2008 in Grants.
She is survived by her children: Johnny Abeita of Thoreau, Dino Abeita of Grants and Benny Abeita of Prewitt; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren and six great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank Abeita; parents: George Parkett and Mary Parkett; daughters: Alice Abeita and Janet Abeita; son Billy Nez and many brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers were Don Begay, Jonathan Abeita, Dwayne Begay, Dion Begay, Donald Begay and Gary Yazzie.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Abeita, Benny Abeita, Joe Apachito and Derrick Begay.

Compassion Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
