Irene Aaron Wheat Harris, age 77 of Rossville, Georgia, and formerly of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Monday, April 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born July 14, 1945, in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

She was preceded in death father and stepmother, Emory M. and Sarah Aaron, her mother and stepfather, Cecil and Jack Joyce; her first husband, Richard Wheat, and her second husband, Ed Harris, step son, Daniel Harris, son-in-law, Curtis Dobbs, brother, Hoyet Aaron and half-brother, Russell Joyce.

Irene retired from Barrett Carpet Mills as a credit manager. She was a member of South Dalton Church of Christ. She loved to square dance and to travel. She was also an artist and loved to paint.

She is survived by a daughter, Erna Dobbs of Rome, GA; half sister and brother-in-law, Celia and Roy Kilby of Ringgold, GA; sister-in-law, Sheila Aaron of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Angela and Jason Mackler of Rossville, GA, Amanda Parm of Dalton, GA, Nancy Dobbs, and Rosa Dobbs both of Rome, GA; great-grandchildren, Nathan House, Taylor Parm, Antonio Valles, Marcos Valles and Waverly Waits; nieces and nephews, Sheilena and James Smith, Ty Morgan, Chris and Michelle Kilby; a special thanks to the staff of Hamilton Hospice and Regency Park for the great care.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Irene Aaron Wheat Harris will be held Friday, April 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Reece Fauscett officiating. The music will be arranged by Carey Anderson. She will be laid to rest beside her first husband at West Hill Cemetery .
