Kirt was the son of William Dennis Acor and Laura Rosetta Pease. Identified siblings were: Lillian, Clyde Loring, William Ransford, Clifford Clarence, Edna Viola, Alta Eldora, and Lola Cleo.

Between 23 May 1898 and 24 Oct 1898, Kirt E. Acor served in Company C of the 2nd Regiment US Volunteer Cavalry during the Spanish-American War. During the war, the 2nd Cavalry deployed to Cuba, joining Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders; fighting at El Canay, San Juan Hill, Aquadores, and Santiago.

In 1910, Kirt and his brothers Clyde and Clifton (sic) were range laborers in East Casper, Wyoming.

On 12 Sep 1918, Kirt Emory Acor (B: 20 Jul 1877) registered for the WWI draft in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was described as a resident of Cheyenne, medium height, slender build, blue eyes, and brown hair. He was recorded as in the employ of the Wyoming Cattle Company at Campstool, Wyoming. His nearest relative was recorded as Mr. Clyde Acor [his brother] of Carr, Colorado.

In 1920, Kirt E. Acor was residing in Carr, Colorado.

In 1930, Kirt was a house painter and residing on Oak Street, Kansas City, Missouri. He was also identified as a Spanish-American War veteran.

On 9 Jan 1933, Kirt filed for his military pension in Arizona. His unit was recorded as Company C, 2nd US Cavalry.

Kirt never married, but was engaged once. However, two weeks after getting engaged his bride-to-be was dragged by a horse and killed (ABQ Journal, 16 July 1972).

Kirt passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in Albuquerque. He was survived by his sister Edna Gillespie of San Diego, California (ABQ Journal, 11 Dec 1972).
