William Clark Akers. His sister was Alice Akers Shinneman Graves. Excerpts from obit in the Telluride Tribune Thur Mar 25 1948: William Clark Akers was an old time resident of San Miguel and Montrose counties. He died Sunday night March 21 at the home of his niece, Mrs May Rose of Placerville. He had suffered a stroke sixteen months prior and had been bedfast for 8 months prior to his death. He was born April 5 1867 in Des Moines, Iowa. His parents were James and Amelia Akers. He came to San Miguel county in 1875 and moved to the west end of Montrose county in 1890. He was living in Naturita and then moved to Placerville. He was a miner and cattle rancher. Survivors: two sisters: Mrs J D Clark of Cottage Grove, Oregon and Mrs Melissa Davis of Moab, Utah; a brother, Albert Akers of Jacksonville, Oregon and other relatives. Mrs Melissa Davis his sister and Mrs Daisy Allen, his niece of Moab Utah attended the funeral in Placerville.
