Joan Aalto of Marstons Mills passed peacefully in her sleep on November 3, 2020 with her husband of 57 years by her side. She was the daughter of Paul and Grace Bennett. She married her husband John Aalto in Las Vegas, NV in 1964. Joan was a hard worker who lived a rich, full life. At age 16, she got a job as a switchboard operator for the telephone company. Later, she took pride in being a homemaker and raising her family, while also founding and running a successful family excavation business with her husband. Additionally, she worked as real estate broker and was a Barnstable Town Meeting Representative.

One of the most noteworthy traits Joan possessed was that no matter how busy her days, she would always make time to sit for a cup of coffee and chat with the many people who regularly stopped by her kitchen. She was sought out by many for her compassion, wisdom, and business savvy. A fun-loving sociable person, some of Joans favorite days were the gatherings she and her husband hosted at their camp in Vermont or their home in Marston Mills.

She had eight siblings including John and Kevin Bennett
