Business Magnate and Author. He is best remembered as the founder of Pick 'n Pay. Under his leadership, Pick 'n Pay became one of Africa's largest supermarket chains. In 2004, he was voted 79th in the Top 100 Great South Africans. Plus, he was named by the Financial Times as the only South African among the world's 100 greatest business leaders. In 2006, he and his family donated R4 million to the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town. Aside from business, he also wrote the books "Hearing Grasshoppers Jump" (2004), "The Four Legs of the Table" (2005), and "A Sprat To Catch A Mackerel: Key Principles To Build Your Business" (2010).
