Alford Davis Adams, 70, of Mocksville, died Friday, September 15, 2023, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 16, 1953, in Forsyth County, to the late William Gaither Adams Sr. and Audrey Lee Whitehead Adams.

Mr. Adams served as Sergeant at the Mocksville Police Department for many years and then became a truck driver. He was a member of Victory on the Frontline Church in Lexington. Mr. Adams enjoyed chauffeuring the family around to their various functions and enjoyed driving his golf cart around to conduct "community watch" and check on his neighbors. Alford loved to sit outside and watch the chickens, or "admiring the landscape" as he called it. He never met a stranger and loved his grandchildren more than anything else in the world.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Louise Myers; and a grandchild, Lauren Elizabeth Engle.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Linda (Ward) Adams; his daughter, Julie Leonard (Kevin); five grandchildren, Kathryn Zorn (Ben), Landon Leonard, Jaydon Leonard, Callie Leonard and Carly Leonard; three siblings, William Adams (Nora), Barbara French (Allen) and Victoria Adams; numerous nieces and nephews; a special nephew who called him "Papaw," Jacob Whitaker; his dog, Levi; and had a great-grandchild on the way, Anastasia Zorn.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, at Eaton Funeral Chapel, with Pastor David Hedrick, Pastor Will Pryor and Pastor William Adams Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Davie Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday night at Eaton Funeral Home.
