Joel was born on July 3, 1962 in Oak Park, Illinois to Merrill and Rosemary (Hasselberger) Lutz.

Joel was a true jack of all trades, able to do anything he put his mind to including remodeling houses and working on cars. He also enjoyed working as a truck driver for many years at Martinovich Trucking. Joel was kind-hearted and always there to lend a helping hand to others. He had a deep faith in Jesus and strove to live by his example, putting the needs of others before his own. He loved to tell jokes and make others smile and always had a good story to tell.

Joel had a passion for collecting things and an interest in being his own boss. He owned and operated AJ's Buy and Sell Pawn shop in Marshfield for many years, working along with his daughter whom he loved dearly.

Joel enjoyed playing the guitar and drums in the Wesley United Methodist Church Praise Band with his daughter Josie for many years. Josie was the light of his life. He was always carrying around a camera to capture precious moments of her life to keep with him forever. Joel shared many of his talents with his grandson Camden, whom he especially enjoyed playing with and teaching. He would take Camden to the park and go biking with him around town, he also would read him stories and help him with his homework. He also taught him how to play chess and poker.

Joel is survived by the many family members, friends and acquaintances who benefitted from his kindness, generosity, and intelligence.

He is survived by his daughter Josie (Camden) Lutz and his son Joseph Lutz.

He will forever be missed dearly.
