Brenda Theresa Abeyta, 57, of Arroyo Seco, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 3, 2023, after a hard battle with cancer.

Brenda was born to Martin and Bernadette Garcia in Española. After Brenda graduated from Pojoaque High School, she went on to study at New Mexico State University. Here is where she met the love of her life, Darroll. They were married during the summer of 1986.

Brenda and Darroll went on to have a daughter, Jaclyn, and nearly twenty years later, another daughter, Breanna Joy.

Brenda was an accountant and bookkeeper by trade. She especially loved using her talents in these areas to work with her church and missionaries around-the-world. Some of her favorite hobbies included doing arts and crafts, traveling domestically and internationally, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Brenda is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jose Abel and Ramoncita Garcia, maternal grandparents Jose Gabriel and Maria Benigna DeAguero, mother Bernadette Garcia, brothers Delfido Garcia and Martin Garcia, father-in-law Eddie Abeyta, niece Staci Garcia and nephews Thomas Abeyta and Benjamin Abeyta. She is survived by her husband Darroll, daughters Jaclyn and Breanna Joy, father Martin Abel, brothers Joe (Jami) and Gene (Christine), brothers- and sisters-in-law Roy Abeyta (Geri), Darlene Haffner (Don), Danny Abeyta (RaeLynn), nieces and nephews Marissa Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Maggie Rose Garcia, Eli Garcia, Dana Haffner, Rachel Bishop (Dylan), Samuel Abeyta, Daniel Abeyta, Alicia Abeyta, as well as numerous loved tias, tios, cousins, and many dear friends.

Burial will precede the services in Peñasco, NM, at the San Pedro Cemetery Monday, October 9, 2023, at 9:00 am. Celebration of Life Service and meal will follow at Valley Bible Baptist Church in Española, NM, at 11:00 am.

Those serving as Brenda's pallbearers are: James Lovato, James DeAguero, David DeAguero, Chris Martinez, Daniel A. Abeyta, and Dominic Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers are her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
