Shaina (Gullickson) Adelman
March 23, 1981 ~ October 29, 2023

Shaina Ja'Net Adelman, 42, was called home to Heaven, on October 29, 2023. Actually – in true Shaina fashion, fu*k that. Shaina was not simply called home to Heaven. On her last day she stated, "Today is my day," with such peace. She spent her last day at her home in Horace, ND., feeling and reciprocating love from the ones she loved most.

Shaina was born in Bismarck, ND., on March 23, 1981. Her parents are Jacqueline Gullickson, and guardian angel in Heaven, Clayton Gullickson. She went to Center High School in Center, ND., and graduated in 1999. She attended Josef's School of Hair Design, where she earned her cosmetology license. She started her career at Regis Hair Salons and The Source, before building her independently owned salon, where she balanced being a mother and business partner with her husband.

She married Scott Adelman, on June 3, 2006, and they grew as a family with their two daughters, Alivia and Brynley. While being a mother always came first, she was also co-owner of Adelman Concrete & Excavating, Adelman Investments, Puesta del Sol in Arizona, and Subgrade Specialists.

It's hard to put into words, all that Shaina was - she was indescribable. First and foremost, she was a "mama bear" to her daughters. She told them often, that if it weren't for them, she wouldn't have fought her cancer for 12 years.

Shaina made an imprint on everyone's lives that she came across. She was her family's rock. And a best friend to many. She paved the trail for so many others living with cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, which metastasized in 2013.

With Shaina, you always knew her opinion. She was resilient, bold, intelligent, determined, and beautiful. She was the first to offer support to anyone who needed it. Shaina was so many things to so many people.

Shaina loved traveling with her family; ziplining in the Caribbean, and skiing in Colorado, are just a couple favorite memories. She was the first to invite you over and was passionate about hosting and cooking for as many people as possible. She lived for summers at her lake place and vacations to tropical places. WeFest and country concerts (especially Kenny Chesney) with family and friends brought joy to her soul.

Shaina is survived by her beautiful daughters: Alivia (15), and Brynley (13); husband, Scott Adelman; mom, Jacqueline Gullickson; brothers: Ryan Gullickson, and Cory (Jenny) Gullickson; sister, Jenna (Aaron) Young; nieces: Brienna Gullickson, Regan Gullickson, Haven Gullickson, and Zahara Bishop; nephew, Elijah Bishop; father-in-law, Ken Adelman; mother-in-law, Gloria Adelman; and sister-in-laws: Shawn Adelman, and Michele Adelman.

Shaina is preceded in death by her dad, Clayton Gullickson; grandparents, Jack and Rose Bobb, and Elmer and Lucille Gullickson; and many aunts; uncles; and cousins; with cousin, Ronald Langseth, having a unique bond with her due to their cancer journeys.

The funeral service for Shaina will be on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM, at Hope Lutheran Church – South Campus (3636 25th St S, Fargo ND).
