Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, December 4, 2023, Mrs. Gail Theresa Abernathy, 72, loving wife of the late James "Buddy" Abernathy.
Gail was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She loved animals and enjoyed cooking and hosting her family. She was known affectionately as "Nana" by her grandchildren. Gail was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister.
Family members include children: Tim Abernathy (Stephanie), Angie Joiner (Jamie), and Crystal Hanson; grandchildren: T.J., Tyler, and Katie Abernathy, Brandon, Phillip, and Megan Hanson, Chelsea and Taylor Joiner; siblings: Billy Kitchens, Bobby Kitchens (Joanne), Lindy Kitchens (Emily), Jerry Kitchens, and Judy Pardue. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margie Kitchens, sisters, Mahala Kitchens and Donna Reeves, and son-in-law, Mike Hanson.
Interment was private in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were T.J. Abernathy, Tyler Abernathy, Brandon Hanson, Phillip Hanson, Matthew Pravato, and Nick Pravato.
