Memorial services for Robert L. Aaron, 71, will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Rio Rancho, with the Rev. Dr. Richard Freeman officiating. Aaron, a resident of Rio Rancho since June 1981, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born in Harrisburg, Ill., on Oct. 10, 1919, the son of Edward and Delia Shea Aaron. He was a member of the Boy Scouts for over 50 years and attained the rank of Eagle. From 1955-1984 he served in an executive capacity with the Boy Scouts of America in Wabash, Ind., Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Mount Holly, N.J., New York city (where he was the scout executive for the burroughs of the Bronx, Staten Island an Brooklyn) and he retired from the executive in Middletown, N.Y. While a resident of Rio Rancho, he was a member of the Rio Rancho Country Club, Ninety-niners, Kiwanis club of Northwest Albuquerque and St. Paul's United Church. He was one of the organizers of the Boys and Girls Club of Rio Rancho. He also was a 46-year member of the Masons and was a 32nd-degree Mason. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geraldine; one son, Robert Aaron Jr. of New York City; three daughters, Judy Clark of Pensacola, Fla., Carle DeOliveira of Rio Rancho and Roberta Markum of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Ruth Bennett of Pontiac, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to either the Boy Scouts of America or thee Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place at Vista Verde Memorial Park by Sunrise Society.
