The Milton Free Press gives the following beautiful tribute to the late Mrs. Abbott, wife of Capt. A.W. Abbott.

Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock the spirit of Mrs. A.W. Abbott passed peacefully away. She was at the home of her father in Milton.

Mrs. Abbott was the daughter of Esq. E. D. Gillum of Milton. She was 28 years old the 7th of last August.

She was married to Capt. A.W. Abbott, Dec 17, 1889. About a year ago she had a serious spell of sickness. It settled on her lungs and she has been failing in health ever since.

Last summer Mr. Abbott, by the counsel of physicians, went with her to North Carolina. She did not improve, and they then went to Colorado Springs, Col. For a time it appeared that Mrs. Abbott would improve, but as the winter months drew on she began to grow worse. A few weeks ago when it became manifest that she must die, she decided to come to her old home at Milton to die.

Owing to her weakened condition they had to wait several days before she was well enough to start. Monday night a week ago they arrived at Milton, and Mrs. Abbott was taken to her father's house. At first she was cheerful and elated at the idea of being at home, but she soon began to rapidly to sink until at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning she died.

Mrs. Abbott was a cheerful, intelligent Christian woman. She had many friends in Milton and all over the county. She had been a member of the church at Mt. Byrd since she was a girl, and she found comfort in her religion in her dying hours. She spoke of dying with composure, made all the arrangements for her funeral and burial, and spoke of her hopes for the future.

A large number of sympathizing friends attended the brief service at the house Wednesday, morning, and followed the remains to the Moffett cemetery.

Capt. Abbott, and the father, sisters and brothers have sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
