EDINBURG -- Ammon H. Abbett, 87, formerly of Indianapolis, died this morning at the Indiana Masonic Home at Franklin after a 2-week illness.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home at Edinburg by the Rev. Walter Howard. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
Persons may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Abbett was born Oct. 5, 1889, in Johnson County in the Camp Atterbury area to Thomas and Jane Heady Abbett. A 1909 graduate of Nineveh High School, he was graduated in 1912 from law school at Indianapolis.
A retired lawyer, he had been a member of the Nineveh Masonic Lodge since 1915, was past commander and was a member of the Indianapolis Emerson Legion Post No. 262. He also was an Army veteran of the first world war.
Survivors include a son, Fremont Voges of Perrysburg, Ohio; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Walter Howard at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Edinburg for Ammon H. Abbett, 87, formerly of Indianapolis who died Thursday at the Indiana Masonic Home at Franklin after a two-week illness.
Mr. Abbett is the uncle of Mildred Patterson and Ebert True of Edinburgh.
